Of these, 9,000 kibitkas pass yearly eight months on the Russian side of the Atrek, and 1,000 more are permanent settlers on our territory ; the remaining 5,000 do not cross the Atrek, and dwell always on Persian soil. These figures are derived from my own inquiries in North Persia, and from those of Consul Bakouline at Astrabad. "
