Zamindawar Afghanistan

The region south of Herat and the Hari Rud and Northeast of Kandahar was known as the Zamindawar in the time of the emporer Zahiruddin Muhammad Babur circa 1500.

Muhammad Khan (Shaibani) returned in distress to Khorasan in the spring, and led an expedition against the Hazara and Nikudar, who were in the Kohistan of Zamindawar. As the sun of his fortune was setting, he could accomplish nothing in that expedition either."

In the reign of the Emperor Akbar Zamindawar was a dependency of the Kingdom of Kandahar and in lieu of taxes contributed 1200 cavalry and 1000 foot soldiers.
