Baluch Panoramic War Rug 20th C

Baluch Panoramic War Rug 20th C

This is a Baluch Afghan War rug. The format is more square than is typical in these and the tanks are highly styalized. However it is well drawn in a traditional panoramic format. The scene portaryed here is probably a real place and this scene commemorates something significant to the weaver. In War Rugs there is a dicotomemy between those made in Afghanistan and those made in Pakistan and to a lesser extent Iran. I believe that this one is from Afghanistan.
